About Us

Tocreo was founded in 2011 by a small innovative team with the sole focus of creating distinctive ID and financial cards blending  computing, display & RF power technologies to revolutionize the industry. The team has a unique blend of expertise: cryptography, thin film flexible displays, materials, advanced packaging, RFID, antennas, and ultra low powered electronics. The result has been to successfully create the first RFID only powered display cards. 

Since then, our products have revitalized the ID, financial and aviation markets. We are continually developing innovative lower cost design with over 11 provisional patents and thin film manufacturing advancements . We’re passionate in our belief that secure and easy-to-integrate products bring cost efficiency unmatched in the industry.

Richard Schaeffer, Jr. - CEO Tocreo Labs
Richard C. Schaeffer,  Jr. is a former Senior Executive with the National Security Agency (NSA), with over 40 years total U.S. Government service, including 15 years as a member of the Defense Intelligence Senior Executive Service.  He brings extensive leadership, management and technical experience in the area of Information Security and Intelligence.  
Principal positions during his career include Director, Information and Infrastructure Assurance, Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Command, Control, Communications, and Intelligence) at the Pentagon; NSA Deputy Chief of Staff; Acting Director of Research; Director, National Security Operations Center; Information Assurance Deputy Director; and, Information Assurance Director, during the last four years of his career with the NSA.
Since retiring from the NSA, Mr. Schaeffer has continued to pursue his passion for improving the security of U.S. and started a private consulting firm, Riverbank Associates, LLC, and became CEO of Tocreo in 2016. His vision, leadership, strategic thinking, ability to build cohesive teams, political savvy, and technical competence is ideal for solving the long standing problem of applying a high assurance security on a true commercial mobile device.

Simeon F. Wooten III - CFO & Chairman of the Board
Sim Wooten is currently the Chief Financial Officer and a director of Tocreo Labs. His past position as the owner, principal, and a portfolio manager of Investment Counselors of Maryland, an asset management firm brought his past expertise to Tocreo. The firm manages assets via a mutual fund and six outside institutional accounts. He received his MBA at the Wharton School of Business with a double major in accounting and finance, then began his career as an accountant with Coopers & Lybrand.  He has since made his way successfully through the world of finance and asset management, acquiring his CPA and CFA along the way. He and his family now reside in Annapolis, where his wife is a professor at the United Stated Naval Academy, and his varied outside activities include sailing, skiing, scuba diving and meeting interesting people.

Kenneth Rose - Business Development Director
Consultant in Information Security, Mr. Rose has spent his 50+-year career in pursuit of security technology.  After graduating from Bucknell University in 1957 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and a BA in Mathematics. Mr Rose began his career designing cryptographic algorithms and devices at NSA.  In 1966 he joined AMI, a startup semiconductor producer, as chief of Systems Engineering. He spent ten years designing chips for various electronic calculators, microprocessors and communications devices.  In 1976 he rejoined the government to direct Research and Development for Information Security systems, retiring from government service in 1996.  Since that time he has pursued an active consulting career in Information Security product design and analysis for government and industry. A Life Member of IEEE and a member of AFCEA, he was awarded an SES position in 1983.

Mark S. Krawczewicz - President & Founder
Mr. Krawczewicz spent 22 years designing and bringing to reality the next generation secure communication and cryptographic systems at NSA. In 2007, Mr. Krawczewicz entered private industry as the Executive V.P. of Cleared Travel Corporation (subsidiary of Priva Technology Inc.) where he patented and developed the first secure ID card that obfuscated the users photo and biographical data when outside the secure facility. Mr. Krawczewicz founded Tocreo Labs in 2011 to create the first NFC powered alphanumeric display card specifically targeting secure ID credentials, aviation, financial, and retail applications. Mr. Krawczewicz also enjoys teaching as an adjunct professor at the engineering college at Loyola University in Baltimore MD.

Alfred Altschul – Director
Mr. Altschul is an experienced financial executive who has senior financial and strategic management positions for both public and private companies. His positions as CFO of AMTRAK, Airline Report Corporation, and Midway Airlines, demonstrates his skills in identifying and implementing successful financial and organizational developmental strategies for these companies. Mr. Altschul is an angel investor to Tocreo and currently works as a business consultant and financial adviser.
In addition, he successfully completed five common stock offerings, arranged over 400 million dollars in lease financing, and negotiated domestic and international bank credit facilities This has given him broad experience in the unique features of each area and the ability to identify the appropriate capital market strategy for meeting liquidity needs. He received an MBA from University of Chicago and is a CPA.
